What Is SET Planning?
SET Planning, or Senior Education and Training Planning, is a process in education, that helps high school students plan their future education and career pathways. It typically involves students in Year 10, as they prepare to transition into their senior years of schooling (Years 11 and 12). The SET Plan is designed to be a personalized roadmap that outlines the student's goals, aspirations, and the steps needed to achieve them.
Key Components of SET Planning:
- Career Exploration: Students explore different career options and identify fields of interest.
- Educational Pathways: They consider various educational pathways, including academic, vocational, and combined options.
- Goal Setting: Students set short-term and long-term goals related to their education and career aspirations.
- Course or Subject Selection: They choose subjects for Years 11 and 12 that align with their goals and interests.
- Skill Development: The plan includes identifying skills and competencies they need to develop to achieve their career goals.
- Support and Resources: Students are guided on developing their SETP using available support and resources, including Careers expo visits, Industry talks, TAFE and UNI experience days and career guidance via Certificate II FSK which is a compulsory course for all year 10 students at Mount Morgan State High School.
